What Just Happened?

I can't believe this...

A 5.0 magnitude earthquake lasted for maybe 30 seconds this afternoon.

I didn't feel a thing.

I was working out in the plant, running around where things are loud and rumbling, and when I got back to the production office they told me that it happened maybe ten minutes ago.

Now, you would think that most people's first reaction to something like this would be some fear, maybe a little panic, and mostly not enjoyable. The news sound bites show people being evacuated from office buildings, etc. I, on the other hand, was mostly disappointed that I missed out on the experience. Yeah, I know, I'm weird.

What really bums me out is that I didn't feel the last one either. It happened maybe 10 years ago, and they said that the top of the CN Tower swayed a little and so on. So really, this is like the Polkaroo for me - darn it, I missed him again!

And now they've issued a tornado warning up north. Not that I really want to experience THAT, per se, but seriously. It's the end of the world.

I missed it too - I was underground and didn't feel a thing. When I emerged, I witnessed people gathered on the street corner, talking animatedly about something. I was actually annoyed with them because they were blocking the sidewalk (didn't voice my annoyance though).

Well, between the rain, the earthquake, the tornado, and the high school set on fire, we've covered the four elements this week.

I think the universe was trying to tell Mr. Harper that the G20 should have been held elsewhere.

I can't join the 'didn't feel the earthquake' club, but at the same time, I had no clue it was an earthquake initially. I felt a light shaking in my office at work, and I just thought to myself, 'Oh, they must be doing construction on the street near the building again." It wasn't until I got home and discovered that the 'construction' wasn't being done by men.

Needless to say, as far as earthquakes go, this one was a bit of a rip off. Massive natural disasters should not be able to be confused with street renovations. Though, now that I say this, I am not actually eager to experiene any really mass devestation, just in case Mother Nature is reading this.
